MEMPHIS (WMCTV) -

Memphis police discovered a unique animal roaming in an East Memphis neighborhood.

Neighbors called police to report dogs barking, but when officers arrived, they found a loose coatimundi instead.

A coatimundi is an animal belonging to the raccoon family. The owner of the coatimundi was not home.

Police called the Memphis Animal Shelter as soon as they discovered what they were dealing with.
