EAST RIDGE, TN (WRCB) -- East Ridge Police arrested a man early Monday on multiple burglary charges.

Police say a witness called police when they saw 27-year-old Anthony Cuevas trying to break into the Direct Auto Insurance Company. The witness told police Cuevas would hide whenever cars would drive by.

Police were dispatched to the scene and saw Cuevas running from the area. Officers recognized him from the witnesses' description and pursued him.

When he was apprehended, police recovered items taken during a nearby vehicle burglary. They also found a screwdriver police say Cuevas used to break out a window of the business.

Cuevas was charged with attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools, and vandalism over $500.

He is scheduled to appear in court on May 7.
