Woman charged in fatal Meigs County crash

Posted: Updated:

MEIGS CO., TN (WRCB) - Nine months after a fatal accident in Meigs county, a driver has been arrested in connection with the crash.

Police say Stephanie Delashmitt was driving north in the southbound lane on Highway 58 last August, when she struck a car head on.

Delasmitt and three passengers were taken to UT Medical Center for treatment.

The driver of the other vehicle, Virginia Banther, died as a result of the crash.

Police say Delashmitt did not have her headlights on and may have been under the influence of drugs.

She's charged with one count of vehicular homicide and three counts of reckless endangerment.

Delashmitt was arrested in Florida, where she is now a resident and later booked in the Meigs County Jail.
