LAFAYETTE, GA (WRCB) -- The Walker County Sheriff's officer responded to a suspicious package on Duke Street Wednesday afternoon.

Officials say they were called to 103 S. Duke Street around 11:20 in regards to a suspicious package.

Officials say the package was soft pack personal cooler and a pull over jacket.

While officials waited for the technician to arrive, investigators discovered there had been a class held by the State Probation office at the location Tuesday night.

The attendees of the meeting were called and the owner of the package was located.

The cooler was opened and it was empty.

The Walker County Sheriff's Office made certain that there was no remaining threat and the scene returned to normal around 12:40.
