Urban League of Greater Chattanooga holds annual spring job fair

Posted: Updated:

In recent years jobs have been scarce. College grads to those 'mature workers' coming out of retirement have asked  -- "If the jobs are there, where are they?"

Tuesday, the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga hosted its annual spring job fair.

At least 20 employers were on site, including T-mobile, Volkswagen, the American Water Company and Mckee.

Some job seekers were able to pass along their resumes and get on the spot interviews. The Urban League says since several people have been affected by the economy, their mission is to help families get back on track as the economy improves.

"We seem to be coming out of a recession and that's good news, so that's why we're offering the job fair: to help people get ahead," says James Mckissic with the Urban League. "Move on out and come and get some people to pursue some of their financial goals. By getting the job that they want and the job that they deserve."

About 500 potential employees were at the job fair and Urban League of Greater Chattanooga will host it's next job fair in the fall.
