30 units were left without power after a lightening strike hit the Bell Standifer Apartments located on Jenkin Road.  Even though the incident happened on Sunday, electricians are still working to turn the power on. The American Red Cross set up a shelter for those in need of a place to stay. Crews were also left with an extra mess to clean. There was soggy debris spread across one side of the complex. Several renters expressed their gratitude for those that have helped.  Tanya Moore said, "I think we were lucky more than anything. The fireman responded quickly."

The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department were the first to arrive on the scene. They made the snap judgement to power down the electricity to one whole side of the building after they arrived.

The managers at Bell Standifer think the power should be restored to the remaining units Tuesday evening.
