First on 3: Three in custody after pawn shop burglary

Posted: Updated:

HIXSON, TN (WRCB) -- Where a storefront should be is a gaping hole at Big Buck's Pawn in Hixson.

Police say early Monday morning someone drove an SUV straight through the front door then stole guns and some other merchandise.

You can see the far wall where at least two rifles are missing.

Jeff Crawford owns a deli next door and says he is isn't so much surprised as he is concerned for his own store safety.

It's a different product he's selling, but he says it proves thieves are desperate.

"It does. It does. When you look at what is happening all over the country you have concerns all over the board."

Nearby on Forestdale Road, Channel 3 had the only camera on scene as police looked for suspects.

Investigators went door to door.

Our camera was rolling as police placed a young man in the back of a patrol car.

Crawford says even with insurance the headache of repairs will take time and patience.

"For the little bit they stole and the amount of damage they created, it is just going to take so much of their time to repair the building."

Glass litters Big Buck's parking lot and inside employees sort through the mess.

Crawford says he doesn't expect anything to happen to his store, but he is prepared for the worst.

Police have not released the names of the people in custody and no charges have been filed.
