RED BANK, TN (WRCB)  --  Officers in Red Bank responded to apartments in the 4200 block of Tacoma Ave. around 10:30 p.m. Saturday on a call that the occupant inside had an explosive.

Chandler Wynn Mauldin, 24, is charged with assault and possession of a prohibited weapon after officers say he threatened them, he claimed he had a bomb and other weapons.

Several families in the surrounding neighborhood were evacuated, a few stayed at a local church for shelter.

Several agencies including SWAT and negotiation teams from the Red Bank Police Department, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and the Chattanooga Police Department responded to the scene and spent several hours at the location.

Mauldin was taken into custody around 4 a.m. Sunday.

Agents located and disabled two devices inside the residence.

Mauldin is being held at the Hamilton County Jail in lieu of a $140,000 bond.
