JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WRCB) -- Marcell Ozuno hit a three-run walk-off home run to cap a seven-run ninth inning rally to lead Jacksonville to a 12-9 win over Chattanooga in the finale if a five-game Southern League series Wednesday afternoon.
The two teams combined to score ten runs through the first eight innings, then exploded for a total of 11 in the final frame.
Miguel Rojas hit a three-run homer and Blake Smith followed with a solo blast as the Lookouts broke a 5-all tie with four runs in the top of the ninth.
It wasn't enough.
Audy Ciriaco's run-scoring single, a bases-loaded walk and Christian Yelich's two-run double tied the game at 9-all to set the stage for Ozuno's game-winning blast to left-center off Greg Infante (0-1).
Ozuno also hit a solo home run in the third inning as Jacksonville built an early 3-0 lead. Ozuno and Ciriaco each finished with three hits, while Yelich joined Ozuno with three RBI.
C.J. Retherford hit a two-run home run that started Chattanooga's scoring in the fifth. He was also hit by a pitch twice and scored three runs. Rojas added an RBI on a groundout in the seventh to finish with four RBI.
The Lookouts (9-11) return home to AT&T Field Thursday night after winning three of five games in Jacksonville. First pitch in the opener of a five-game series with Jackson is set for 7:15 p.m. ET.
