CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- Good Wednesday. We are going to start out today warm and a little humid. Though an isolated shower or two are possible this morning, most of us will stay dry for the commute in.
As a front approaches, we will see winds increasing from the southwest, blowing from 10-20 mph.
Shortly after (10am-11am), we will see some showers and storms moving over the Plateau, and through the early afternoon will move through the Tennessee Valley.
While we will see some garden variety thunderstorms producing brief heavy rain, thunder, and lightning, there is not enough instability to create the tall, towering storms that can produce hail and tornadoes.
I would expect showers and storms through the afternoon, tapering this evening.
Behind the front, we will see cool, dry air settling in for Thursday with lows near 40, and highs in the upper 60s with sunny skies.
Friday will be just as nice, but a little warmer with highs in the mid 70s.
The weekend is VERY uncertain. What I THINK will happen is we will see a series of weak troughs of low pressure moving through Saturday through Monday. As they do, they will working through a warm, humid environment, and that will definitely bring mostly cloudy skies, and probably some widely scattered showers during that time period. With that said, there are some models predicting the rain, and some are only putting clouds in the forecast this weekend. I do think this forecast will be refined over the next day or so, so stay tuned.
The chance of rain will actually increase next Tuesday and Wednesday as most models have another front slowly moving through bring rain and thunderstorms to the area by the middle of next week.
