TN sees drop in crime for 2012

NASHVILLE, TN (WRCB) -- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released a statewide crime report which showed an almost three percent drop in overall crime.

The annual "Crime in Tennessee 2012" report showed a 2.8 percent overall decrease in crime. This is the third year in a row crime has decreased.

For 2012, 566,601 Group A offenses were reported the majority of which were property crimes. Crimes against persons decreased one percent. Crimes against society increased 6.3 percent.

Reported murders increased approximately 1.5 percent and aggravated assaults increased by eight percent.
