Brock and Gunner Win Yellow Jacket Open High School Bass Tournament

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Grundy County High School hosted the Yellow Jacket Open Bass Tournament at Shellmound Boat Ramp on Nick-A-Jack Lake, Saturday April 20, 2013. Twenty-two teams representing six different high schools were entered in this event.

High school teams competing in this tournament were Grundy County, Rhea County, Central Magnate High, Silverdale Baptist Academy, Chattanooga Christian, and DeKalb County. Sixteen of the 22 teams that participated weighed in bass.

Winners were Dillon Brock and Cody Gunner, from Rhea County High, weighing in a 5 bass limit for 15.31 pounds.

Gunter said "We caught a few early and then we had to fish hard the rest of the day to get our 5 bass limit."

Big fish of the tournament weighed 5.99 pounds and was also caught by Rhea County High School's Shane Broadwell and Bryce Travis.

The complete results are as follows:

1st - Rhea County - Dylan Brock & Cody Gunter - 15.31 lbs.
2nd - Grundy County - Dakota Travis & Zackary Hiett - 14.42 lbs.
3rd - Grundy County - Samuel Morgan & Justin Grimes - 13.43 lbs. 
4th - Silverdale Baptist - Josh Brady & Cody Thomas - 12.22 lbs.  
5th - Rhea County - Shane Broadwell & Bryce Travis - 12.00 lbs.
6th - Grundy County - Hank Lowrie & Dakota Cantrell - 11.92 lbs.
7th – CCS - Tucker Youngblood & Cam Alderidge - 11.69 lbs.
8th - Grundy County - Kayla Green & Cody McGee - 8.88 lbs.
9th - Silverdale Baptist - Ethan Phillips & Taylor Norton - 8.08 lbs.
10th - Silverdale Baptist - Austin Shoemaker & Kendall Chambers - 7.22 lbs.
11th - Rhea County - Matt Calbaugh & Justin Wright - 6.18 lbs.
12th - Central Magnet - Taylor Saling & Austin Tipton - 5.85 lbs. 
13th - Silverdale Baptist - Hunter Arnold & Daniel Kennedy  - 4.99 lbs.
14th - DeKalb County - Charlie Young & Austin Brown - 3.69 lbs.
15th - Grundy County - Tristan Owenby & Austin Jackson - 3.53 lbs.
16th - Rhea County - Madison Guest & Savannah Zaffis - 3.33 lbs.
17th – Grundy County - Eldon Posey & Zack Sanders – 3.22 lbs.
18th - Grundy County - Tyler Akin & Dalton Summers - 0
18th – Silverdale Baptist - Braden Marshall & Jacob Westerfield - 0
18th - Central Magnet - Jacob Neely & Jon-Thomas Neely - 0
18th - Rhea County - Nathan Shaver & Wade Coleman - 0
18th - Rhea County - Chance Thurman & Harley McGinness - 0

White County High School will be hosting the next high school team tournament on Nick-A-Jack Lake, Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Shellmound Ramp, Jasper, Tennessee, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
