City of Dayton elects new mayor

Posted: Updated:

RHEA COUNTY, TN. (WRCB) -- It was Election Day in Dayton where voters selected a new mayor and two city councilmen.

Councilman Gary Louallen defeated Vice Mayor Bobby Doss 499-473.

Louallen succeeds Mayor Bob Vincent who decided not to seek another term after eight years in office.

In the city council race, Bill Graham and Steve Randolph retain their seats, both handily defeating Jerry Morgan.

These results are unofficial until certified by the Rhea County Election Commission.

Once the new mayor is sworn in, a special election will be set to fill his then vacant seat on the city council.
