CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Joc Pederson hit two home runs, but Miguel Rojas' bunt proved to be the difference as Chattanooga escaped with a 5-4 win over Birmingham in game three of a five-game Southern League series Wednesday afternoon at AT&T Field.
Rojas' squeeze bunt with one-out in the ninth scored Bobby Coyle with the winning run to give the Lookouts (5-8) a 2-1 lead in the series.
Pederson had provided all the previous Chattanooga scoring with a two-run home run in the third and another two-run blast in the eighth. His second homer gave the Lookouts a 4-2 lead, but Michael Early hit a two-run homer of his own to pull the Barons back to even in the top of the ninth.
Eric Eadington (1-0) picked up the win despite giving up the lead in both the eighth and ninth innings.
Starter Andres Santiago was solid again, giving up just one earned run on six hits in six innings. Santiago struck out three and walked two. His ERA now stands at 1.00 after three starts.
Pederson finished with three hits, while catcher Jan Vazquez's 2-for-3 effort made him the only other Chattanooga player with a multi-hit game.
