Apartment fires leads to arson arrest

TRION, CHATTOOGA CO., GA (WRCB) - An early morning fire lands one person behind bars.

An officer on the scene reports that upon questioning the occupants of the apartment, Kline and Brenda Young, that Mrs. Young admitted to setting fire with a lighter.

When questioned for a reason, Young's response was "she didn't know".

Mr. Young stated that she was upset and had asked her to go to bed. He later heard a noise upstairs, went to investigate and smelled smoke.

Young tried to put the fire out, but it was out of control so he called 911.

Fire officials confirmed the fire was intentional.

Brenda Young was placed in custody and taken to the Chattooga County Jail.

Young is charged with arson in the first degree.
