TIFTONIA, Tenn. (WRCB) -- South Pittsburg staked Tyler Reed to a three-run lead before he even took the mound Tuesday night at Lookout Valley.
It proved to be far more than enough run support for the sophomore left-hander.
Reed threw a complete-game no-hitter with 16 strikeouts to lead the Pirates to an 11-0 rout of the host Yellow Jackets to improve to a perfect 10-0 in District 6-A play.
South Pittsburg (21-4) has already wrapped up the regular season title as it continues its march back to what it hopes will be a third straight trip to the state tournament.
Reed cruised through Lookout Valley's young lineup and added an RBI double at the plate in the second inning.
Cooper Lewis started the scoring with a two-run, bases-loaded single in the first. McKenna Blevins followed with a run-scoring single to center to make it 3-0.
Jake Stone followed Reed's second-inning double by driving in a run when his line drive to right skidded off the glove of the Jackets' outfielder. The error made it 5-0 and the rout was officially on.
