CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- Chattanooga Police say the safety of citizens is the number one priority at upcoming events.

Chattanooga Police PIO Nathan Hartwig says since the September 11 tragedy, operations and security have changed significantly but the number one priority of the Chattanooga Police Department is the safety of its citizens.

He says they plan to provide safe and secure events for spectators at the upcoming  U.S. Pro Championship Road Race and Riverbend Festival.

They have been discussing safety measures with various agencies for the past year and will take all necessary precautions to address any threat of violence before, during, or after the event, according to Hartwig.
