HILTON HEAD, S.C. (UTC) -- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's golf team takes a nine-shot lead into the final round of the Southern Conference Championship.
UTC fired 300 in its second 18 and is atop the leaderboard with UNCG (606) and Furman (610) trailing by nine and 13 strokes, respectively.
The Mocs were led Monday by Agathe Sauzon, who carded a one-under par 71. Her round included an eagle holing out from the fairway on the par five sixth. Her 52 degree wedge from 96 yards out took a small hop and then settled into the hole for a three. She also had a birdie and 14 pars on her card.
Sauzon is tied for second overall in the championship's individual standings at two-over par 146 along with teammate Emily McLennan. McLennan shot 74 in her round Monday with birdies at the par three fifth and par five 15th.
The duo is a shot behind UNCG's Fanny Cnops who shot 68 (-4).
Cnops' 68 ties the SoCon record for 18 hole score with four others with the most recent instance coming in 2006 by College of Charleston's Angie Hill. That led the Spartans to a three-over par 291 which tied the Cougars' low mark in the 2006 championship.
Porsche Campbell, Isabella Loza and Jordan Britt round out UTC's team scoring, all currently sitting in the Top 25. Campbell is 10th at plus eight, 152, while Loza checks in tied for 16th (155), while Britt is tied for 25th (157).
The final round for UTC starts Tuesday morning at 8:50 a.m. ET with Furman and UNCG.
Britt leads off followed by Loza (9:00), Campbell (9:10). McLennan (9:20) and Sauzon (9:30).
