ATHENS, TN (WRCB) -- The McMinn County Economic Development Authority and HP Pelzer Automotive Systems, Inc. announced plans to build a manufacturing facility in Athens which will bring 200 jobs.

The facility will be 185,000-square-feet and will be built at the Mt. Verd Industrial Park. It is set for completion in August with facility completion estimated for September 15.

The company is headquartered in Germany and operates 37 manufacturing sites and five technical centers worldwide.

HP Pelzer has three other factories in the United States.

MCEDA is selling Partners Development 23 acres for the facility site, and Partners has contracted with Blaine Construction to build the facility, both based in Knoxville.

"Our team looks forward to opening this facility in Athens, Tennessee," said HP Pelzer Chief Operating Officer Steve Paladino.  "In McMinn County, we have found a geographic area and a team of local leaders that are ideal for HP Pelzer's manufacturing needs and growth.  We look forward to being part of the regional business community."
