Woman's childhood home badly burned in fire

Posted: Updated:

HIXSON, TN (WRCB) -- A woman's childhood home was badly burned in a fire on Cassandra Smith Road Saturday.

Chattanooga Fire responded to the blaze. The back of the home and the garage were badly burned and the inside sustained significant water damage.

One woman lived in the home. Her sister says the house was built in the 1940s and they both grew up in the home.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials say it may have been caused by or near a lawn mower that was parked shortly before the fire started.

Damages were estimated around $70,000.
