OOLTEWAH, TN. (WRCB) -- Three people were held against their will at a home off Lee Highway in Ooltewah.

There were tense moments for everyone involved for about two hours.

Our cameras were rolling as suspect David Thomas was handcuffed and taken into custody by Collegedale police.

Early Friday morning, the suspect's father called police, claiming his son was holding him, his girlfriend and wife hostage inside their home.

After two hours, the SWAT team and negotiators convinced Thomas to surrender.

Details are limited right now as to exactly how it all started, but police do believe Thomas and his girlfriend were in a heated argument that got out of control.

Thomas' father was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

He's expected to fully recover.

As for the mother and the girlfriend, officials say they were shaken.

"When officers arrived, they met the father that made it out of the residence," Police Chief Brian Hickman says. "He was injured on his arm."

David Thomas has a prior criminal rap sheet that includes three active warrants, two counts of domestic violence and one count of drug paraphernalia.
