NASHVILLE (WRCB) -- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Coffee County Sheriff's Office arrested the man responsible for the murder of a McMinnville woman found dead near the Summitville Cave last month.

Jimmy Byron Jones, Jr., 51, of Morrison, TN was arrested Thursday night and charged with first degree murder for the death of 58-year-old Connie Lou Godsey Brown.

On March 9, 2013, the burnt body of Brown was found at the Summitville Cave located between Summitville Road and Fire Tower Road in Coffee County. The autopsy revealed that Brown died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Investigators learned that Jones was present at the crime scene on two different occasions for several hours through an electronically monitored GPS device he wore for a prior offense. He is a convicted sex offender who is currently on probation, and has admitted to killing Brown.

Jones and Brown reportedly did not know each other.

TBI investigated the homicide at the request of the 14th Judicial District Attorney General's Office. The Warren County Sheriff's Office also assisted in the investigation.

Jones was booked into the Coffee County Jail on $2 million bond.
