Former manager handling safety reviews at TVA nuclear plants gets six years
CHATTANOOGA, TN (Times Free Press) -- A 55-year-old Louisiana man convicted on charges of major fraud while handling safety reviews at TVA nuclear sites has been sentenced to six and a half years in federal prison.
Walter Cardin, of Metairie, LA, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Curtis Collier Thursday following a November trial on eight counts of major fraud.
TVA agents conducted a six-year investigation of work done at the agency's Brown's Ferry Nuclear site in Athens, AL, the Sequoyah Nuclear site in Soddy Daisy, TN and the Watts Bar Nuclear site in Spring City, TN.
