Current Chattanooga city council holds last meeting

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- The Chattanooga City Council, as it's currently composed, met for the last time Tuesday night.

Seven members will not return, two by their own choosing, five others who were defeated.

The current city attorney presented outgoing members clocks as tokens of appreciation.

Chairwoman Pam Ladd, who lost her bid to represent district 3 for another term, had some parting words of wisdom for the incoming class.

"Every vote you take affects people. It affects someone. And every vote you take, some people are gonna be happy about it and some people are gonna be upset.  And you'll be amazed at how upset some people can get. So, study everything carefully and make the best decisions that you can for this city."

The new council members and the new mayor will be sworn-in Monday morning at 10 a.m. at the Tivoli Theatre. The swearing in is open and free to the public.
