Children in Rawlings St. fire identified

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- Two children involved in a fire on Rawlings Street last Monday have been identified.

Chattanooga Fire official Bruce Garner says the two boys are Tyler and Tyrell Jackson.

3-year-old Tyrell perished in the fire. Officials say he died of smoke inhalation.

Tyler was flown to the burn center in Augusta where he remains in critical but stable condition.

Their mother, Shondell Jackson, was also injured in the fire.

Fire investigators are still working to determine the cause. They say they're not clear on if the mom was inside or out when the fire started, but say her burns and smoke inhalation are proof she tried to tried to save her two infant children, but just couldn't.
