Several hundred volunteers clean downtown Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - Hundreds of volunteers spent their Saturday cleaning up downtown Chattanooga.

750 volunteers rolled up their sleeves from North Shore, through downtown and into all the south side neighborhoods.

"It's something you always notice when you drive by; you see the trash on the ground, so it's nice to be a part of it and actually get it cleaned up," Clean and Green volunteer Cody Edwards on the Life Kraze team said.

"There are things that happen around Highland Park that get some negative attention, but there's so many positive things that go on in this neighborhood," Highland Park Neighborhood Association President Michael Wilson said.

"One of the things that really excites me about this generation, is they really do want to get involved. They want to do something meaningful," Tennessee Temple University President Steve Echols said.

"As college students, we're calling to be a great example for the next generation," TTU student volunteer Nahun Paulin said.

"I think it really says that our community is all about putting in a helping hand," River City Company's Tiffanie Robinson said.

Several local organizations, schools and companies joined forces to make Clean and Green's third year the most successful year.
