Medical examiner says woman found in river had suspicious injuries

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- Detectives are seeking information on a woman who was found dead in the Tennessee River Friday.

Chattanooga homicide unit investigators say DeborahUnderhill was found Friday on the south bank of the Tennessee River. Medical examiners say she had suspicious injuries on her body.

Underhill was last seen wearing a tan plaid shirt, khaki pants, and white tennis shoes on West MLK Boulevard Thursday morning.

Underhill may also have been known as Deborah Faye Swafford who lived in the Red Bank and St Elmo areas.

Police are asking anyone with information on her death to contact Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525.

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
