Deputies: Car chase ends in shooting

CHEROKEE COUNTY, NC (WRCB) -- Cherokee County deputies are investigating a shooting that occurredTuesday night.

Officials say they responded to Hanging Dog Road regarding adisturbance. When they arrived, they found 40-year-old Tommy Dockery at theresidence with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Investigators believe the shooting may have been the result ofa high speed chase Dockery was possibly involved in.

Dockery was airlifted to Erlanger in critical condition.

The incident is still under investigation.

Anyone with informationconcerning this incident is asked to call the Cherokee County Sheriff's Officeat 828-837-2589 or email crime.tips@cherokeecounty-nc.gov.
