Dalton Police crack down to clean up

Posted: Updated:

DALTON, GA (WRCB) -- Dalton Police are looking to clean up the city -- and have already taking the first step.

The new effort includes the full-time position of an officer to enforce municipal codes.

Just a few of the focuses include graffiti, structure maintenance, overgrown lots or yards, public nuisances and even inoperable vehicles left around.

The goal: to have high property values in the city and community pride.

"Simple things like picking up trash and junksend a strong message to criminals that people care and are keeping an eye outin their neighborhood," says Chief Jason Parker.
