UPDATE: Sequatchie County land lines "99%" fixed

Posted: Updated:

SEQUATCHIE COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- Officials in Sequatchie County say they're almost back to normal, stating the telephone land lines are at "99%" according to Sequatchie County Emergency Management Agency Director Winfred Smith.

After having a malfunction with their fiber optic system, the resulting outage affected all land lines in the county, and severely impacted the 911 call center.

The initial problem was noticed about 3:00 a.m. and measures were taken to restore service. Hardware was replaced, but software issues created some additional headaches.

For emergencies in Sequatchie County, 911 should be operational.
