Runners get colorful for charity

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- If you were downtown Saturday morning, you may have noticed thousands of runners covered in color. That's because it was time for the Color Me Rad 5K run.

More than 6000 runners participated in the event. Each one started out with a fresh white shirt, as they ran the course the runners were hit with color bombs.

Channel 3 photo journalist Jared Guest also participated in the fun.

Organizers say this year's run was sold out, and 20 percent of the proceeds will benefit the local Make a Wish foundation.

"some of the money from the race, they're giving to us to help grant wishes for kids in East Tennessee with life threatening medical conditions," says Stephanie Wilkins with the Make a Wish Foundation.

6500 runners participated in this year's Color Me Rad 5K.
