Fatal tree-cutting accident in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- A man cutting a tree Friday morning was struck and killed by the tree.

Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and other emergency responders were dispatched to 930 Lee Pike where a 68-year-old man was cutting a tree on family property.  

Early reports are that while the victim was cutting the tree, it shifted and started falling. The victim was unable to move away from the falling tree and it struck him, causing massive injuries.  

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene; his name will not be released until family members are notified.
