Mistrial declared in Chattanooga murder case

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- A mistrial has been declared in the case of a Chattanooga woman accused of murder.

After hours of deliberating, the jury was unable to reach a verdict.

Tamekia Reed is charged with the stabbing death of 15-year-old Shaviya Vinson at the College Hill Courts public housing complex in December of 2011.

Witnesses testified that a street fight over a $20 babysitting fee resulted in Vinson's death, after she was stabbed in the chest with a pair of scissors.

A retrial is set to begin Monday.
