"Gustnado" causes damage in Northeast Tennessee

Posted: Updated:

(NBC) - Security video from Claiborne County High School shows the storm moving through the area in the early evening hours on Sunday.

The system brought strong winds and damage with it.

Wednesday, National Weather Service crews surveyed the damage to determine what caused it.

While a funnel cloud appeared to cross the screen meteorologists say a tornado never touched down that this was likely a "gustnado."

The strong gust of wind did pick up a trailer and toss it around the parking lot.

There was some other minor damage around the school and to some homes.

Several trees and power lines were also knocked down.
