Dalton police asking public's help in identifying possible suspect in vehicle theft

Posted: Updated:

DALTON (WRCB) - Dalton Police are investigating the theft of a pickup truck and asking for help from the public with identifying a man who was driving the vehicle after it was stolen.

The truck was taken from an apartment complex at 216 Easterling Street sometime between 10:00 pm on Saturday, January 19th and 1:00 pm Sunday, January 20th.

The truck is a red 2005 Chevy Silverado with a red camper top and was apparently left unlocked.

Inside the truck was approximately $1,100 worth of tools and equipment including a pressure washer, air compressor and an electrical generator stored inside.

The truck was later recovered in Chattanooga. It was found behind a gas station on Shallowford Road.

The truck was apparently abandoned with a flat tire by a white male subject on January 23rd.

The suspect apparently asked the store owner if he could park it there while he went to get help. He did not return and the store owner had the truck towed away.

The Chattanooga Police after being contacted by the towing company ran the tag number and discovered the vehicle stolen.

The vehicle was returned to its owners, but the tools and equipment were missing.

The subject who abandoned the truck is a white male who wore a red baseball cap backwards inside the store.

Anyone who recognizes this man is asked to please contact Detective Sam Eaton at 706-278-9085, extension 158.
