(WRCB) - TDOT is on a mission to be more involved with local communities.

The agency is creating an "Office of Community Transportation".

Chattanooga is one of the four cities in which regional staff will be on hand to collaborate with local leaders.

Their goal is to avoid potential conflicts on local and state projects.

Leaders will also work together on improvements to the state route system to encourage economic development.
