A chilly start to spring?

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- Welcome to spring!  What a better way to herald in the season then with... cooler weather.

Today should be nice.  We will warm to the upper 50s (the average high is 65 for today) with partly cloudy skies.

This evening, a weak trough of low pressure will move through, and could bring an isolated shower (mainly north of town) or two.  The main impact, however, will be another shot of cooler air tonight.

Lows tonight will drop into the mid to upper 20s, and highs Thursday will stay in the mid to upper 40s.

Friday we will warm a little into the mid 50s.

Another front will approach this weekend, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms Friday night, all day Saturday, and into Sunday morning.

Some showers and storms may redevelop today as a cold front passes through the Tennessee Valley. But don't worry too much, they aren't expected to be widespread or become severe.

Several things are coming together to increase our chances for some severe weather later today.  A warm, humid air mass will interact with unseasonably cool air that will be pushing through today and tomorrow.
