DALTON, Ga. (AP) - A Dalton man has been sentenced, after pleading guilty to having inappropriate sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl he met online.
The Dalton Daily Citizen reports 21-year-old Cody Allen Satterfield was sentenced Tuesday to ten years in prison followed by ten years of probation, after negotiating a plea deal that led to charges of aggravated child molestation and enticing a child to be dropped.
Authorities say Satterfield was 19 when the victim ran away from home and called him to pick her up after meeting him on Facebook.
District Attorney Brett Poston says Satterfield initially denied any wrongdoing, and then acknowledged the inappropriate contact with the girl and that he knew she was 12 years old.
Satterfield's attorney Jerry Moncus says the sentence is harsher than what he'd hoped for.
