Councilman threatens to sue over runoff

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- A legal challenge to the results of Chattanooga's district nine city council race may be coming.

Councilman Peter Murphy gave an ultimatum to the election commission this week-- hold a runoff or go to court.

The commission had until Tuesday at 5 to respond.

Last week, elections officials ruled Yusuf Hakeem the winner of the district nine race, citing unofficial write in votes.

Hakeem beat Murphy by just six votes. Murphy says all votes should count.
