Cearna, Inc. has officially launched, OcuMend™, a new product designed to decrease a patient’s recovery time by five to seven days from blepharoplasty (eyelid) and Rhinoplasty (nose) facial plastic surgery. OcuMend is an easy-to-use, healing gel pad that reduces bruising, pain and swelling allowing patients to get back to work and their life faster. OcuMend was well received when beta tested nationwide in 2012 with plastic surgeons reporting that 89 percent of their patients recovered faster, and of these, 63 percent recovered five to seven days faster.
“The use of OcuMend has decreased the amount of bruising and swelling in the post-operative period. This has led to a noticeable improvement in the recovery of my cosmetic blepharoplasty patients,” shares Dr. William P. Mack, a board certified surgeon who specializes in oculoplastic surgery and facial cosmetic surgery in Tampa, FL.
A third-party, anonymous survey* commissioned by Cearna confirmed that length of recovery time is important to patients having facial plastic surgery. 75 percent of respondents said that given the choice between two surgeons, they would choose the one who can get them back to work faster without bruising. Additionally, 80 percent said they are willing to pay a premium for a product that could reduce their recovery time. In the beta test, 96 percent of patients who used OcuMend responded “likely to very likely” to recommend OcuMend to a friend.
“The use of OcuMend in our practice sets us apart by delivering results that we cannot obtain with any other product,” states Dr. Jack Zamora, an oculo-facial plastic surgeon and principal practitioner with Cosmetic Surgery Consultants in Denver, CO. “Patients want to recover over a long weekend instead of recovery taking more than a week. OcuMend allows our patients to return to their lives sooner.”
A natural product, OcuMend is 50 times stronger than any Arnica plastic surgery product and is the only plastic surgery product containing Ledum which is indicated for periorbital surgery. Easily integrated into post-op patient protocol, OcuMend healing gel pads decrease the need for patients to lie down and apply ice allowing movement during recovery, and increases patient compliance. This breakthrough treatment is available to patients exclusively through physicians’ offices.
Cearna offers a four-surgery, sample program for qualified surgeons to see the difference OcuMend makes with their own patients. Surgeons can request to participate in the program by emailing info(at)cearna(dot)com.
