KKK fliers found in Oak Ridge neighborhood

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (AP) - Police in Tennessee say single-page fliers bearing the letterhead of the United Klans of America and announcing a neighborhood watch were found in an older area of Oak Ridge.

Oak Ridge Police Officer Garrett L. Robbins wrote in an incident report that the fliers stated "You can sleep well tonight knowing the UKA is awake!"

The Knoxville News Sentinel reported the fliers included a phone number for a northern Alabama location and the organization's website.

The officer reported it was unclear who left the fliers, some of which were weighed down by rocks and sealed in plastic baggies.

The fliers were left in yards and driveways in a neighborhood on Tuesday night.

Several unopened baggies containing the fliers and small rocks remained in the neighborhood Friday.
