Female juvenile faces charges for "threat" at Soddy-Daisy Middle

Posted: Updated:

SODDY DAISY, TN. (WRCB) -- Soddy Daisy police say a female juvenile is behind the threats made against middle school students.

Chief Phil Hamrick says while the threats made on Instagram appear to be a hoax, charges are pending through juvenile court.

School officials were notified Wednesday night and immediately called in police to investigate.

Thursday morning, officers searched the school and seized computers and cell phones which may be related to the incident.

Students told Channel 3 an Instagram user by the name of "The Unknown" began posting pictures of a hit list. Some of the posts targeted one student.

The threats prompted many parents to keep their children at home or pick them up from school.

School officials say the atmosphere was "closer to normal" on Friday.
