A Warm Weekend Ahead

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- Spring is here!! ...for a few days.

Today we will have lots of sun and highs in the upper 50s this afternoon.  We will still have cool weather tonight as lows drop into the low to mid 30s.

Winds will shift Saturday ahead of a slow mooing front.  Those southerly winds will allow us to warm into the upper 60s Saturday and Sunday.  We will also have clouds building slowly through the weekend, but I do not expect any rain.

Monday the front will move through, and that is when the rains will come.  Monday afternoon into Monday night we will see about 1/2" of rain with up to an inch in a few spots.  No severe weather is expected.

Some showers and storms may redevelop today as a cold front passes through the Tennessee Valley. But don't worry too much, they aren't expected to be widespread or become severe.

Several things are coming together to increase our chances for some severe weather later today.  A warm, humid air mass will interact with unseasonably cool air that will be pushing through today and tomorrow.

We will continue a warm, muggy pattern with highs reaching about 90 degrees.  The heat and humidity will combine with a trough of low pressure to produce one or two thunderstorms.
