Crash involving a car and a train claim life of Georgia woman

CHATSWORTH, MURRAY CO.,GA (WRCB) - A crash involving a car and a train claimed the life of a North Georgia woman.

Witnesses say the woman was driving North on Highway 411 in Chatsworth, when her vehicle made a hard right, and down an embankment.

Investigators tell Channel 3 the woman's vehicle landed on its top on the tracks. That's when the train hit it, and the car became trapped between the train and the embankment.

Police aren't sure what caused the woman to make the turn, but right now they're calling it a "freak accident."

Authorities have not released the victim's name.

They say she's 58 years old and a resident of Habersham County.

She was reportedly on her way to Dalton.
