(NBC) - The National Rifle Association will be sponsoring a NASCAR race.
The NRA will sponsor the April 13th Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth and the race, previously called the Texas 500, will be renamed the NRA 500.
NRA spokesman Wayne Lapierre calls the sponsorship the latest move in a growing partnership between the organization and the NASCAR community.
The NRA replaces Samsung, which had sponsored the race since 2002.
Last year, the NRA sponsored the "NRA American Warriors 300" at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
