Ex-Vols coach Neyland's son dies at 79

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Lewis Neyland, a son of former Tennessee football coach Robert Neyland, has died at the age of 79.

Neyland, who played three sports at Tennessee, died Saturday morning at his Chattanooga home, the university announced Monday.

Neyland was the youngest son of Robert Neyland and his wife Ada Fitch Neyland. He lettered in basketball (1954-56), tennis (1953-54) and golf (1954-56) as a student at Tennessee.

Robert Neyland posted a combined record of 173-31-12 in 21 seasons as Tennessee's coach (1926-34, 1936-40, 1946-52). He died in 1962.
