KNOXVILLE, TN. (WRCB) -- A local middle school principal was killed when a car slammed into a Knoxville restaurant Thursday.
Channel 3 has learned the woman was Bledsoe County Middle School Principal Deborah Thompson.
Police say Thompson was paying her bill at the Tomato Head restaurant when the driver of a sedan lost control of the car, and slammed into the building.
This happened around 2:30 p.m.
Channel 3 spoke with Bledsoe County School Board Chairman Charlie Young, called Thompson, well-liked, highly thought of, a pillar of her school, and one of the best administrators the county had seen.
Bledsoe County Schools will open 2-hours late on Friday.
The male driver was also to taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
