Bradley Central 60, Ooltewah 56
CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WRCB) --
Bryce Copeland and Daniel Clark scored 15 points apiece to lead Bradley Central to the Region 3-AAA championship with a 60-56 win over Ooltewah in the tournament final Thursday night at Cleveland High School.

Matthew Whitmire added 10 points for the Bears (19-12), who advance to host sixth-ranked Siegel in Monday's sub-state sectional round. The Owls (20-10) must now travel to top-ranked Blackman with a trip to the state tournament on the line.

Bradley Central threatened to pull away in the first half, closing the first half on an 11-0 run to open a 23-15 lead. Ooltewah battled back to pull within one, but Logan Cox buried a 3-pointer at the first-half buzzer to give the Bears a 31-27 lead at the break.

Bradley score the first four points of the second half and was again on the verge of going ahead by double-digits, but Antonio Jackson and Jacqueze Robinson helped the Owls hang around.

Jackson led all scorers with 20 points, and Robinson chipped in 19 as Ooltewah pulled within 57-56 on Robinson's layup with just over a minute to play. A Taylor Morgan layup pushed the lead to three, then the Bears sandwiched lock-down defensive possessions around a Copeland free throw to secure the victory.

Howard 60, McMinn Central 59
ATHENS, Tenn. (WRCB) --
Brandon Walters scored 19 points and McMinn Central missed two shots in the closing seconds to allow Howard to escape with a 60-59 win in the Region 3-AA championship game Thursday night at McMinn County High School.

It's the second straight region title for the Hustlin' Tigers (26-5), who advance to host DeKalb County in Monday's sub-state sectional. McMinn Central (28-4) will travel to Livingston Academy.

Cudjoe Young's breakaway slam gave the Hustlin' Tigers a 60-57 lead with 17 seconds left, but Tim Webb drove the length of the floor to sink a layup through a foul just six seconds later. Webb missed the subsequent game-tying free throw attempt and the Chargers fouled Young, who went to the other end and missed two free throws of his own to give Central one last chance.

The Chargers were able to get Max Miller an open look, but his 3-pointer rattled out and Denzel Boyd missed on the follow as the buzzer sounded to let Howard raise the championship hardware.

Walters added 18 rebounds for yet another double-double, while Xavier Smith and Young also scored in double figures with 15 and 10 points, respectively.

Webb led McMinn Central with 19 points, while Joe Scudder added 13.

Boyd-Buchanan 58, Grace Academy 44
SALE CREEK, Tenn. (WRCB) --
A trio of Boyd-Buchanan players scored in double figures and the Bucs used two key second-half runs to pull away from Grace Academy for a 58-44 win in the Region 3-A championship game Thursday night at Sale Creek High School.

The region title is the first since 1996 for Boyd-Buchanan. The Bucs (25-7) will play host to Clarkrange in their first sub-state sectional appearance since 1997, while the Golden Eagles (12-15) must travel to Region 4 champ Watertown.

Hall Allen, Justus McMillan and Austin Walker scored 13 points apiece to pace the Bucs, who trailed by five at the half. Walker scored seven straight points to start the second half as Boyd-Buchanan ripped off an 11-0 run to take the lead for good.

Grace managed to stay within seven at the end of the period, but then hit a four minute scoreless drought in the fourth quarter that allowed the Bucs to push their advantage to 20 with 3:48 to play.

Zach Jenkins added ten points in the win for Boyd-Buchanan, while Austin Powell and Josh Smith led Grace with 12 points apiece.
