CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- An early morning fire in St. Elmo destroyed a home on West 56th Street.
Neighbors awoke about 2:00 a.m., saying they heard the sound of popping and glass breaking and discovered the house at 1713 W. 56 Street in flames.
Chattanooga firefighters responded from Station 14 and other stations to battle the blaze.
Once the firefighters got the fire under control, they began searching for victims, and discovered they the home's owners were out of town.
CFD Lt. Andrew Waters said the house was considered a total loss. An auto parked nearby was also destroyed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
