Meigs child killed while crossing the street to grandmother's house

MEIGS COUNTY, TN. (WRCB) -- A walk to her grandmother's house Thursday night, turns deadly for a Meigs County six-year-old.

It happened on River Road around 6:30 p.m.

A county dispatcher says the child's older brother made it across the road, but she was hit by a car.

She says the driver stopped to help and isn't facing charges at this time.

The sheriff's office is investigating.
